Kent

1.jpg

Yesterday I got my first opportunity to ride out to Kent. Shamil, the guy I work with every day, was training the rangers on how to help monitor species. I was let loose for a couple of hours to wander.  As you can see, the weather is nice now. Its 60 degrees as I type this!  Kent, of the little I saw, is spectacular.  I love rock and that is all Kent is- huge slabs of granite with unique rock formations. I'll have some fun exploring this place in the next 2 years!

The drive out to Kent is pretty desolate country. Lots of horses grazing (the herders live in metal sheepwagons that look like small old train cars). We saw one other car on the 1 hour ride out there. The parks Kent office is in the village of Amonzholov, which is the largest village around the Kent mountains (1,000 people).

This is one of the parks UAZ cars.  Its Russian made.

And a final shot of Abby-- already seeking out the shade for a morning nap.
