A cold day for a hike

Went for a hike this morning. There is a cave near town that supposedly housed some ancient humans. I was pointed in the direction and told where to look, but we couldn't find it. It was only about 25 degrees when we left but the wind was really gusting. I'm guessing it was single digits for sure with the wind chill.

Our friend came along on the hike.

Toktar Aubakirov is Kazakhstan's first cosmonaut and is from Karkaraly. This is a monument for him. He doesn't live here now, but have been told that he knows the mayor well and if we play our cards right, may get to meet him at some point.
As I write this, it is like a blizzard outside. The wind is whipping hard and the snow is coming down sideways. I have to go out in it in a couple of hours. Time to test my winter gear for wind resistance. A lot gets lost in the video- but it is really fierce out. And sorry about the really loud clock in the background. ha.
