
Two days ago, 16 Americans came to Karkaraly. They were students on a trip. Gambrill's director heard they were in KZ and pulled some string to get them to visit us. Day one, we drove southeast of town to the Kent Mountains and visited Kizhel Kensh.

Kizhel Kensh are the ruins of a 17th century Buddhist monastery. In the picture below, you can see many small specks. The mosquitoes were terrible. So terrible that they are visible in a picture!






This picture gives you a good size comparison for the rocks.



The next morning we went to the mosque in town. I've been meaning to take pictures inside for 2 years...now we have them.




After that, a quick walk up to Baceen and back for lunch. :) All in all, not a bad couple of days.
