The snow is melting and revealing a whole new world. Yesterday Gambrill found a Yak-Trak that she lost earlier in the winter. And in the short walk to Gambrill's house today, we found the following:
Dead animals

Many animal bones

As you can see, the lake is melting fast. All the snow melt from the surrounding hills flows directly into town, so for most of the spring, the runoff through town is a raging river.

Last year the river through town washed out the road by Gambrill's house (in background), and several others down stream. The torrent continues to wash more away.

Small bits of grass are popping up around town. I saw dogs burning off the winter lethargy by chasing cows down the street. The streets were full of people walking. Things are looking up!
