Zhezkazgan

This past week I went to the city of Zhezkazgan to help another volunteer out with a teacher training. I'm not a teacher, but I did a good job winging it. I helped teach a lesson on experiential education- basically how to make lessons more active and fun for the students. It went pretty good and got me to see another part of KZ.

Here are some of the teachers.

Some of the students did a bake sale to raise money for new equipment. The treats were good!

As in Romania, certificates are very important.  At the end of the two day training, we held an awards ceremony and handed out certificates.

I'm back in Karkaraly now. I should be here for a while now- at least until December when I have a training in Almaty. Still no snow but its getting cold and I expect we'll have it soon.

On a side note, I thought I'd share this. One year in country and I think I'm doing a good job of seeing KZ. Of course, there are many small towns I've been too as well, but these are the big cities. My plan for next summer is to hit up the north and a few places in the east, but we'll see.
