Tree Plantings

1.jpg

Today a group of us planted pine tree seeds.  Not seedlings- but the seeds.  There is a batch from a previous year (the guys on the left, above) that are doing really well.  The park lets them become seedlings and then uses them to reforest areas in the park.  As you can see in the pics, the trees have put out leaves nearly overnight and everything is green!

In the spirit of planting, I thought I'd show off the progress on the vegetables growing in my window sill.  Some of these I bought in Almaty, but most are from Gambrill's dad- so thanks Bruce!  Soon, I'll take them over to Gambrill's and they'll be planted in their garden.  But I'll probably keep 1 or 2 pepper plants and a tomato plant with me and do my best to grow them in the window or on the balcony.

These are the tomatoes- They've reached their limits for the little cups and need to be transplanted soon-and I think its finally warm enough to consider putting them outside. I think they look good!  Each little container has at least 5 or 6 tomato plants!

Left are the cucumbers and on the right is my basil.  I have 5 solid cucumber plants and the basil smells terrific.

The left are Cayenne peppers and on the right are bell peppers. I also have jalapeños and strawberries coming up, but they aren't as pretty yet, so I held off on showing them.
That's it. Pretty excited to have a big pepper crop!  There are sweet peppers and more cayennes at Gambrill's. Between those, all of these, and the jalapeños, it should be good!

On a side note: tomorrow (May 18th) marks 4 years to the day that I left for Romania.
