Today the family went to the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta. It is the world's largest aquarium, with 8 million gallons of water (30,283,294 Liters). It also has the largest collection of aquatic animals in the world.
The specially designed whale shark habitat has 6.3 million gallons (23,848,094 Liters) of water and is the world's largest aquarium habitat. They are the only institution outside of Asia to house whale sharks. Currently there are 4 but the tank was built to house 6. They are currently adolecence and are around 20ft long. They will eventually grow to be 40ft or more. This picture gives you an idea of the size.

Notice the Hammerhead Shark. The Georgia Aquarium is one of two aquariums in the US to house Hammerheads.
The aquarium houses the worlds largest population of Giant Grouper in an aquarium.
The aquarium is also known for its collection of Beluga Whales.
